When I first started thinking about a website, I had a good look around the Internet, to see what was available. There are lots of programs out there-some free, and some commercial. I finally settled on using Joomla1.5.My reasons for this were that it was based on LINUX, and there were a lot of free programs availab le with an enthusiastic Community spread around the word. I found the community incredibly helpful with advice on technical matters. The program itself is quite difficult, but one gets to learn it by constantly tinkering around with it. It is possible to include Image Galleries, You Tube feeds, and a lot of other nice features.

The day the Dalai Lama came to Saggart.
On Wednesday April 13 the 14th Dalai Lama adressed a conference in Saggart Co.Dublin.I had heard him speaking before, but it was truly a privilege to have him here on our doorstep. To me, he is the epitome of what every leader should be. In our war torn and troubled world, he represents a beacon of light to those who seek a non-violent and civilised democratic path, in the conduct of the affairs of our societies.
The central message was one of hope for the future. He advises a combination of intelligence and compassion is essential in being truly human. I found his talk very uplifting and inspiring.

Barack Obama came to town today. What's the crack Barak? This seemed to be the rallying cry today. There was a lot of talk about the weather, and whether the president would be able to fly to Offaly. The residents were in a high state of excitement. The whole town had been painted from top to bottom. The president endeared himself to the Irish by drinking a pint of Guinness. He also paid for his round. This gesture is incredibly important to Irish people. In fact one of the worst things you can say about anybody is " he didn't even buy us a round". A crowd of about 60,000 people turned out in Dublin to cheer him on.
